Scheduling Class Visits

Faculty may bring a class to the library for research or for instruction. Librarians are also available to come to your classroom for instructional sessions. To schedule one or more sessions, please fill out and submit the Library Instruction Request Form a minimum of one week in advance of the preferred dates.

When filling out the request form, please be prepared to give the following information:

  • Type of session (see session descriptions on form)
  • Name and email address
  • Course number
  • Preferred date and time of visits
  • Date and time of visit
  • Class size
  • Description of any related assignments

Course Reserves

Miller Library offers a reserve system for faculty to provide material to their students for a limited time. Reserves should be requested when an instructor anticipates a heavy demand on items, and can include books, videos, articles, and websites, as well as works authored by the professor, such as exams or class notes.

Items on reserve are either located behind the Circulation Desk or online through the library's eReserve service. To allow sufficient time for processing, professors should complete the reserves request form at least 14 days before the semester begins.

Note that all Course Reserves must comply with the Cornerstone Copyright Policy. Visit our Course Reserves Policy page for more information.

Requests for Library Acquisitions

Faculty members may request that specific items be added to the library's collections. Requests may be submitted by using the electronic form, marking the items in catalogs or other promotional material, or by e-mail.

Please include adequate bibliographic information to ensure accurate and timely orders. If any problems occur while obtaining item, the requester will be notified. Otherwise, the requester will be notified when the item is available for use. Note that most periodical purchasing decisions are made during the summer, with new subscriptions beginning in January of the following year.

Open Educational Resources (OER)

Faculty members interested in learning more about OER resources are invited to explore the library's OER page.
