Abstract
As a Higher Education Institution, the Grand Rapids Baptist College was subject to numerous departments of government, including federal and state. This collection contains documents regarding such departments and the legislative acts surrounding them. The majority of documents pertain to the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare and the Michigan State Department of Education which perpetuated the Higher Education Act of 1963, the Higher Education General Information Survey, and the correspondence surround them.

Scope and Content
The Michigan Higher Education General Information Survey (MHEGIS) reported on institutional characteristics, students, employees, finances, libraries, projections, facilities, and adult education. These folders also contained correspondence regarding the submission of the survey.
The Higher Education Act of 1965 is represented in both the federal and state series, according to the title and its application to the school. Each folder regarding the HEA of 1965 contain guides for applying, copies of the application, and correspondence between the GRBC, Department of Health, Education & Welfare, and the Michigan Department of Higher Education
The State Department of Education folder contains information from the Michigan Department of Education regarding the legalities surrounding the beginning of a new school. There are statutes and papers regarding the physical and education standards that the school must meet.
Most of the collection surrounds the growing of the school and range from 1956-1975.
